About artistic creativity:
A painter, sculptor or composer has to become his subject. This is simple enough when painting a portrait, sculpting a figure, or composing a ballad. But it becomes abstract when you are representing a cliff, a cloud or a wave. We are no longer humans making something, we become the essence of igneous stone, liquid or vapor. At this moment the ego ceases to exist, and we are one with all things. This is atonement.
