This picture was hard to come by. Hiking around the New Mexico badlands on a very hot day, with nobody else around. When I got to the top I found one of my water bottles missing. This was a real problem in 100+ degrees with no shade. Sitting there, looking across the lava flows, I wondered what to do. A miracle occurred, in the form of a huge thundercloud. It floated slowly across the plain. When it encountered the ridge I was on it released a down pour on me and the landscape. I drank rainwater form the hollows of rocks, all the way back to the trailhead.
